Pet Skull Preservation
Sale Price
Due to frequent requests from families seeking a lasting and unique memorial, Radiant Heart is pleased to offer pet skull preservation services.
This specialized process is performed entirely on-site at our Bellingham facility and typically requires 1–3 months to complete. The process includes:
- Surgical removal of the skull. (Body is cremated separately.)
- A carefully monitored alkaline soak to remove the majority of soft tissue.
- Several weeks to months of water maceration* using a temperature-controlled system.
- A final cleansing soak with an oxygen-based detergent.
- Thorough drying of the skull over several days.
- Professional reassembly of the skull, including securing the jaw bones and any loose teeth.
- Presentation of the finished skull in a special gift box.
*Water maceration is the process of soaking bones in warm water, allowing naturally occurring bacteria to gently break down and remove remaining soft tissue while preserving delicate bone structures.
Important Information
Pet skull preservation is both an art and a biological process. While we will always do our absolute best to return a clean, beautiful, and intact skull, results cannot be guaranteed.
Many factors beyond our control can affect the outcome, including but not limited to a pet’s age, bone density, overall health, dental condition, previous injuries, disease processes, and the natural condition of the skull at the time of death.
Because of the time, labor, and materials involved, all skull preservation fees are non-refundable, regardless of the final outcome.
By selecting this service, families acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with the preservation process.
