Brown Striped Maple Pet Urn – 14 ci

This fascinating little urn was made from solid maple wood which was dyed, stabilized* and turned on a wood lathe.

The wood was finished with several coats of satin lacquer, sanded in between coats and then buffed and polished by hand using a micro-crystalline wax.

The light brown effect of the dye along with the beautiful natural stripes in the wood remind us of the coat of a pastel brown tabby cat.

Appropriate for a pet up to 14 lbs. (flame cremation), 11 lbs. (water cremation) or as a keepsake urn for a larger pet.

*Stabilizing is a process of infusing a liquid solution (cactus juice brand) into the wood which is then baked to a solid. This increases the hardness and density of wood that has lost its structural integrity. Multiple dyes were added to the solution producing a beautiful random color effect in the wood. This piece will not expand or contract (stabilized) with the seasons and can be displayed anywhere including the fireplace mantle or near any heat source.
