Black Walnut Urn with Dark Green Opal Inlay (16 ci)

This spectacular urn was made from a gorgeous piece of dark walnut wood and turned on a wood lathe. Synthetic opal was inlayed into the natural inclusions to produce a gorgeous geode effect.
The wood was finished with several coats of satin lacquer, sanded in between coats and then buffed and polished by hand.
***What makes this particular urn so unique (other than the extraordinary wood grain) is the paw shape with radiating marks (scratch marks?) created by the natural inclusions in the wood. (The opal color most closely corresponds to OP19 – Black Opal 1.)
Threaded top is painted antique gold. Opening is .75″ diameter.
