Honey Locust Burl Urn with Opal Inlay – 41 ci

This spectacular urn was made from a gorgeous piece of honey locust burl wood that was turned on a wood lathe. Synthetic opal was inlayed into the natural inclusions to produce a gorgeous geode effect.

The wood was finished with several coats of satin lacquer, sanded in between coats and then buffed and polished by hand.

The threaded top is locust burl with a natural edge.

What makes this urn so special is that it came from a tree that grew in West Seattle on a hillside with a view of a city — the tree lived looking out over Seattle for more than a century!

Signed by the artist, who lives and works in Olympia, WA.

Appropriate for a pet up to 41 lbs. (flame cremation), 33 lbs. (water cremation) or as a keepsake urn for a larger pet.
