Curly Spalted Maple and Maple Burl Urn

This is a visually stunning handcrafted memorial/cremation urn made from seamlessly joined hardwoods. The stunning dark spalted maple and exotic wenge dovetail splines were handpicked, precisely milled and built. No veneers are in this urn. Final result is beautiful and also functional.

The body was cut from 1 piece of beautifully figured dark spalted maple and then book matched vertically. This gives a mirror image on each vertical side from top to bottom as well as around 3 of the 4 the tightly mitered vertical sides. The top edge is precisely routed with a “roundover” profile and is book matched uniquely figured dark spalted maple. Each vertical corner has 2 wenge dovetail splines. The removable bottom is dark maple (last 2 images). The removable bottom is inset into the body. I have branded the bottom with my shop name.

Urn is accessed by removing the 4 high quality Phillips head screws. Screw holes are currently pending. Screw heads will be precisely recessed into the bottom. Inside is finely sanded. Four nonslip pads have also been applied.

Outside is finished with several coats of wipe on high gloss polyurethane and hand buffed with 4-0 steel wool and paste wax.

The urn measures 6 5/8″ x 6 5/8″ x 6 1/4″ (length X width X height)

Appropriate for pets up to approximately 125 lbs.

This urn should be proudly displayed in the home as a memorial to your beloved during these difficult times. It is uniquely different from any other urn out there and would be perfect in most any setting.
